Brussels — The European Commission has approved requests from Austria and the Netherlands to unilaterally extend the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) to additional sectors in their jurisdictions. The expansions, authorised under Article 30j of Directive 2003/87/EC, will take effect from 2027.
