Commission Seeks Feedback on EU Sustainable Tourism Strategy Amid Early Calls for Degrowth and Regional Differentiation

The European Commission has launched a Call for Evidence on its forthcoming EU Sustainable Tourism Strategy, inviting stakeholders to submit feedback by 12 September 2025. The initiative, led by DG MOVE, will form part of a non-legislative policy communication expected in the first quarter of 2026. Its goal is to guide the sector’s green and digital transition, enhance competitiveness, and position Europe as a global leader in sustainable tourism, while addressing growing concerns over mass tourism’s socio-economic and environmental impacts.
