EU Parliament Accelerates Delay of Sustainability Reporting and Due Diligence Measures

The European Parliament has voted to fast-track the “stop-the-clock” proposal, postponing the application of social and environmental reporting and due diligence measures. With 427 votes in favour, 221 against, and 14 abstentions, the Parliament approved the proposal, which aims to delay the implementation of these measures for certain categories of companies. The Council of the EU, which has already endorsed the Commission’s proposal without changes, will vote on the proposal on Thursday. If endorsed, the draft rules will only need formal approval by the Council to enter into force.
