Julian Kasapi

Julian Kasapi is a journalist with over 17 years of experience in audiovisual media. Beginning his career as a crime reporter, he later shifted his focus to international conflict reporting, where he has made a lasting impact. Now based in Brussels, he works with Ibex Publishing as a transport journalist. He brings extensive expertise, a global perspective, and reliable sources to his work. Known for explaining complex news clearly and delivering accurate updates quickly, Julian has earned a reputation as a trusted journalist for breaking stories.

Julian has reported on some of the world’s most significant stories. He became the first Albanian journalist to document the lives of Albanians in the Al-Hawl camp in Syria. He also covered the activities of ISIS (Islamic State) and the armed conflict in Northern Syria between Kurdish forces and those loyal to Bashar al-Assad. In Guayaquil, Ecuador, Julian produced the acclaimed documentary series “Lumi i Kokainës” (River of Cocaine), a four-part investigation into international cocaine trafficking.

In 2022, Julian reported from the frontlines of the war in Ukraine, delivering live updates from the Donetsk region, including Kramatorsk and Chasiv Yar. He also secured a high-profile interview with Vitaly Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv and a key figure in Ukraine’s resistance (now former mayor). Beyond conflict zones, he reported on the devastating earthquake in Turkey and, more recently, on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Though unable to enter Gaza, Julian reported from Jerusalem, capturing the region’s atmosphere by attending Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and delivering live updates from Ashkelon, where he risked his life during missile attacks from the Gaza Strip.

Julian’s passion for storytelling is backed by strong academic credentials. He studied Journalism and Communication at the University of Tirana and also pursued studies in law. Since 2006, he has worked with some of Albania’s leading media outlets, including Ora News, TV Klan, Alsat, ABC News, Vizion Plus, and A2 CNN, an affiliate of CNN.

In addition to his reporting, Julian is available for writing, editing, special projects, reports, and classic independent journalism, consistently delivering impactful and insightful work.
