White Motorcycle Concepts Debuts Electric Motorcycle for Fleet and Emergency Services

White Motorcycle Concepts (WMC), known for its electric motorcycle land-speed record attempts, has introduced the WMC300E+, an electric motorcycle tailored for fleet and first responder use. The vehicle was unveiled at the Cenex Expo 2024, held from September 4-5 at UTAC Millbrook.

The WMC300E+ offers a range of 100 miles under emergency services driving conditions and can be recharged in under 15 minutes using a standard CCS charger. This rapid charging capability is facilitated by a unique battery concept developed by MAHLE Powertrain, addressing fleet customers’ and emergency services’ operational availability needs.

Robert White, Founder & CEO of White Motorcycle Concepts, stated, “The WMC300E+ is a response to the specific demands of fleet customers and emergency services seeking to reduce their emissions. Its design and capabilities aim to provide a practical, zero-emissions alternative to conventional motorcycles.”

The motorcycle features a patented V-Duct, a central air duct that reduces aerodynamic drag, enhancing stability and performance while decreasing energy consumption. The WMC300E+ employs a dual-channel V-Duct design that improves aerodynamic efficiency by 25%.

MAHLE Powertrain developed a T-shaped battery pack for the WMC300E+, optimising the V-Duct’s benefits while fitting within the motorcycle’s packaging constraints. The battery cells use advanced Lithium Cobalt Oxide with Nickel Manganese Aluminium chemistry, enabling high charge rates and longevity.

Jonathan Hall, Head of Research and Advanced Engineering at MAHLE Powertrain, commented, “Our collaboration with WMC on this project allowed us to leverage our extensive battery engineering capabilities to meet the challenging performance targets set for the WMC300E+.”

The WMC300E+ offers improved acceleration compared to its petrol counterpart and can reach speeds of up to 100 mph. Its design enhances rider visibility, and it can be operated with a standard car license, making it suitable for various services such as paramedic first responders and last-mile delivery duties.

The project received partial funding from the Advanced Propulsion Centre’s ARMD2 programme and builds on the success of the WMC300FR hybrid three-wheeled motorcycle, currently under trial with UK emergency services. The WMC300E+ incorporates recycled carbon fibre in its construction and a ‘right-sized’ battery pack with fast charging capability, reducing the use of rare earth materials and minimising downtime.
